Happy 2018 babes! As you all know, I have been in Germany for the past 3 weeks and have been so busy with friends and family that the blog was put on hold. No need to fret, the new years comes with more dedication to bring to you guys! I normally don’t ever make a concrete New Years Resolution, much less multiple, but over the past few months, some things have come to mind that I really want to work on in order to become a better me.
I’m not much of a person to share personal things like this, but here we go!
New Years Resolution 1
If you know me well, you know I have been on medications for awhile for various health reasons. I hate it. I’ve always been a more “natural” approach type to cure things but I just couldn’t get out of taking these at the time. This year, my resolution is to completely get off medications by doing things the natural way – by the Ketogenic Diet. My mom had shared an article with me awhile back about the various things this diet helps with and I could not shake it, so I began to research.
So basically the diet is a low carb, high fat diet that helps the liver produces ketones to be used as energy. The more ketones your body produces, the more likely you will go into ketosis, which is a natural state your body goes into when food intake is low. Honestly, it sounds crazy to me and a little bit of a challenge! But if it will get me off medication and put me in a healthy state – physically and mentally – then I am going all in!
My first week back from Germany will be my “detox” phase where I plan to have a protein shake for 2 meals a day and a protein with veggies as a third meal. I’m not going on this diet to loose weight (although I gained some good LBs over Christmas lol!), but to change my relationship with food and become a healthier “me”.
New Years Resolution 2
As many of you know, I ran my first half marathon back in December! It’s something I had always wanted to achieve and I still cannot believe I did it! I definitely plan on doing a few this year as well (or maybe one more haha).
However, when I started training for the half marathon, I stuck strictly to running about 5 times a week. This go around, my resolution is to not stick solely to running, but to incorporate a balanced workout program into my life. I have never mastered the balance of cardio and body training and that is my resolution this year so I can have a stronger, healthier body that will make accomplishing my goals easier.
My sister in law and I have always done the Kayla Itsines Beach Body Guide together. I have never accomplished the full 12 weeks but this year I will! And I strongly believe it will help me with my marathons.
New Years Resolution 3
My final resolution of the year combines my first two resolutions – which is to become mentally stronger for whatever life hands me this year, which I believe sticking to the first will make me mentally stronger.
As many of you know, my boyfriend’s job in America is temporary. This is the year we will find out more about our future – whether he will permanently stay in America or continue his career back in Germany. If you can imagine, this is hard to handle mentally and emotionally on both of us. My resolution is to be mentally prepared and strong enough to handle what will be thrown at us.
Not only will sticking to my first two resolutions help my mental strength grow for what will happen with Dominik and I this year, but also for anything else to fall into our lives.
There’s a lot to be thankful for. 2017 brought so much into my life and I am looking forward to what this year will bring! Thank you to all my readers and supporters this past year, especially all the encouragement you gave me with the launch of my blog! This will be a great year! What are some of your New Years resolutions?
