Hey guys! How was your weekend? Mine went by way too fast! Like always. Dominik left for Germany last Wednesday afternoon and a college friend came in to visit Wednesday evening. What perfect timing, huh? It kind of buffered the loneliness of Dom being gone. I took her around to see Houston stuff like the Cistern, Montrose, Discovery Green, University of Houston and some others but the Oscar de La Renta party and exhibit was by far the best thing we did! It is located in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. It was literally a party! There was a DJ, photo booth, food and drinks and a dance floor! Honestly, it was a really cool party! We got there kind of early so we were able to see everything before it got too crowded.
The exhibit was so neat – it had four different sections, each representing a different “era” of Oscar de la Renta’s work. There were tons of dresses (around 70) worn by mannequins on display, with art from the museum as well. I was so impressed by the unique display of it all! I assumed they would all be hanging in cases instead. One thing that blew me away, however, was the intricate details on every piece of clothing! When I see pieces on TV or in magazines, yes I think they are beautiful, but seeing them in person and a close-up of all the details with my own eyes was just incredible!
My favorite part of the entire exhibit was the last showcase room. This room had roughly 10-15 dresses donated by celebrities who had worn them! Then there were TV’s around the room showing the celebrity wearing the dress. Some of names are Taylor Swift, Penelope Cruz, Kirsten Dunst and others. Ahhh, I was in awe!! Of course Taylor Swift’s dress was my favorite just because I’m mildly obsessed with her and wish I could be her best friend haha! Anyways, I hope you enjoy the pictures! The exhibit continues until January 28, 2018 so check it out if you are in Houston!
