Happy Labor Day, y’all! What are you up to on this nice day off? I am debating on whether or not I should leave my parents’ house and go back to my apartment. My little area of this grand city is on a mandatory evacuation and power was cut off yesterday. I’m not sure if it did at our apartment since I am not there and Dominik is out of town but I will find out later today. I am so ready for our city to build back up and get on our feet again after this tragedy.

So there is this unspoken fashion rule about not wearing white after labor day. Why? Well it’s rumored to have started by the rich wives of post civil war. They wanted to tell a difference of old money versus new money so they started creating all these fashion “rules” and wearing white only between Memorial Day and Labor Day was one of them. This was to symbolize the summer fashion.

Fashion magazines started to advertise this rule in the 1950’s and some people still live by it today. However, our lovely lady, Coco Chanel, was one of the many fashion icons who rebelled against this and wore white year round.  Gosh, I love her because I am one who wears white year round and there’s no stopping me. So, for those of you who want to rebel with me and Coco, here are some of my favorite white items to wear after today!

What is your preference on wearing white after labor day?

xxoo, Rebekah
